Twenty Three

This is the date God called my husband home.

12-18-1986

Each year I write for him~~~~
Each year I'm missing him~~~~

MORE THAN YESTERDAY~~~
LESS THAN TOMORROW

Twenty Three

Melancholy moods mist my mind with thoughts of you
This date arrives and I can't believe the number
Seems like only moments ago, yet I know that can't be true
Twenty three years of nights of dreamless slumber.

Still, waking thoughts bring memories ever dear
Time spent with you remains captive in my heart
My conscious mind recalls both loud and clear
The love we share tho we are far apart.

The years I measure now are twenty-three.
Each breath I take brings me closer, still, to you.
I never thought a Merciful God would allow me
All these years to still be missing you.
